There is a certain irony to you lecturing on falsification and the behavior of scientists, while refusing the acknowledge that the example of Fred Hoyle never accepting the Big Bang throws a wrench in your description.

Among other things Fred Hoyle (at least learn to spell his name!) was the H in the classic B2FH paper that elucidated the processes by which various elements were created in stars, and explained the relative distribution of different isotopes in the universe.

This was a key reason why Hoyle preferred a steady state model of the universe — the part of the universe we inhabit needs to be very, very old for this stuff to work out, according to his thinking.

Well, the term "big bang" was originally coined by Fred Hoyle, who was a proponent of the alternative steady state model of cosmology.

As Fred Hoyle once wrote, "Science is prediction, not explanation".

Indeed, the term "Big Bang" was originally coined as derogatory by the famous astronomer Sir Fred Hoyle, a steadfast supporter of the competing Steady State hypothesis [1].

Fred Hoyle might have been "wrong" about steady state theory, in that the standard big bang model seems to match observation better, but it was a damn cool model in its hey day nevertheless, and Hoyle is rightfully remembered for that.
