The keyboard is a Kinesis Freestyle 2 (also referenced by other folks in this discussion).

Even though he's struggling in the rope he's still managing to move around using a bad freestyle.

If you watched swimming competitions earlier than the 1980s you'd see Fish Kicking swimmers in freestyle and backstroke competitions, too.

Give a freestyle swimmer the same fins and (s)he'll blow the underwater swimmer away.

But for freestyle, where there are (almost) no restrictions on the style of stroke, does this fish-style of underwater swimming provide any advantage?

I was disappointed (particularly given the title) not to see a comparison against freestyle swim times.

Kinesis has an accessory[1] for their Freestyle keyboard that does just this.

For sprint freestyle, however, they surface pretty much immediately, so as you could have inferred from the clickbaity title I'm calling bullshit.

With freestyle, I can keep the pad between two halves within easy reach.

I got magnetic tape from Ikea, couple of old bookends and build my own with Kinesis Freestyle.

These days I alternate between Macbook internal keyboard, Topre Realforce 88 and Kinesis Freestyle.

This has mechanical keys (which I prefer now thanks to Topre, though not its variable force for weaker and stronger fingers) and Freestyle's split.
