Arabic was written before farsi was(~800 BC vs ~600 BC), but the languages are much older.

Because Farsi is not the only language spoken in Iran and definitely not the only language in which you are expected to ta'arof.

However, Arabic does not derive from Farsi and Islam did not introduce Arabic.

Modern Farsi does have a lot of Arabic words used because of Islam.

Odd that Farsi is supported, not Polish, given that Poland's GDP is close to Iran's and that Poland has no sanctions against it.

Do you not think there might be a market for software for analyzing text in Farsi perhaps -outside- the region where it's actually spoken?

Basically, it's easier to detect Farsi and Finnish because they're more distinct and in smaller language families than Polish, which is similar to many slavic languages.

The best paying HITs by far are translation tasks - transcribing Arabic and Farsi seems to pay the best ($0.30 or more per minute of transcription).

Quick note, Persian is the proper and historical name of "Farsi" in English.

Farsi is the local name (and what most Persian speaking people call their language in their own language), much like "French" vs "Français" in English.

Polish as a language is more similar to other languages than Finnish or Farsi.

The article does mention RTL languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Farsi?) They are kind of annoying to deal with especially when you have multilingual text.

Farsi did not start using the Arabic alphabet until ~700 AD.
