My college standardized on Eudora several years ago and it has served them well.

I remember reading that Steve Wozniack is still an Eudora mail user.

The last time I heard about Eudora was maybe 15 years ago.

Think less Eudora and more Firefox plugins.

I had Eudora in the mid-90s running PGP integrated really nicely.

Back when Gmail was 'new' it had to be like Eudora or another standalone mail program (or Netscape Communicator if you remember that far back) in order to convert people.

I'm old enough to remember when netscape cost $60 and eudora cost $90 or so for an email client, and you where even supposed to pay for winsock to connect to tcp networks.

When I was in high school and college, I worked as a tech at a big box retailer, I would often have elderly people come in upgrading old machines, frustrated that they couldn't get the version if WordPerfect of Eudora or whatever to run on XP or whatever.

These days there are thousands of "So and So doesn't work here any more" messages that have to be removed from the list by hand, then the people using Lotus Notes, Eudora, and god knows what else.

I also have Eudora configured so that it only sends mail once and hour so that even though I have hit the send button I typically have some time to experience the "l'esprit d'escalier" or "I wish I had said this instead" triggered by the send button.

My favorite email client is actually a newsreader: Forte Inc's Agent, a second best is Eudora.

And eventually the ability of others to provide better/different experiences via e-mail (Eudora, Hotmail, Gmail, etc) changed how people viewed those networks.

I like being given free storage, but as far as usability goes, I have fonder memories of Eudora.
