It seems like startup activity was split between Santa Monica, Irvine, Pasadena, Encino and Hollywood for the longest time.

Like comedies I liked were Encino man, son in law, first few parts of police academy, jury duty.

Had the exact thing happen in Encino neighborhood of LA (fairly nice part, on the expensive side) and guards even caught one of them.
