In _The Dharma Bums_, Jack Kerouac actually describes one such time when he was in a fire lookout tower.

Buddhism on the other hand is a progress in realizing the dharma over many lifetimes of effort.

Some people are essentially homeless and move from one Dharma center to the next without any real sense of direction.

It reminds me very much of the Dharma Initiative from the TV series Lost.

But it's a bit dispiriting to see the same problems in the new tech from the last time the dharma wheel rolled around.

Speaking for myself, religion/dharma is not hurting others and being honest.

It doesn't really matter though, Dharma is still a superstition.

So much so that even karma and dharma have been flushed down the latrines, and people have begun to realise and make their own destiny and bright future.

Due to this I've gravitated towards the Pragmatic Dharma crowd which tends to be a mix of Theravada and Advaita practices (though rejecting Advaita view).

Meanwhile I guess everyone else was blowing open the dharma gates.

At present, however, all Zen clergy trace their own lineages of dharma inheritance back to China through only two men: (1) Nanpo Jōmyō 南浦紹明 (1235-1308), a.k.a.

All the other branches of the Zen lineage that flourished in the past are said to have died out, having failed at some point to produce any more dharma heirs.

Shorter periods of sitting meditation, more emphasis on thinking critically about koans and "dharma combat" -- critical discussion.

A "bad buddhist" makes no sense as each person is simply working out the consequences of past actions during each successive lifetime until the dharma is finally realized.

In some cases "Dharma" and in some cases, just to show their power or get the titles such as "king of kings"...etc.

Dharma is a way of life driven by one of some set of superstition beliefs.

In Hindu Dharma, God is personal in the sense that each one connects to him in their own way unlike/in addition to monolithic set patterns visible to all.
