Jaquard, chambray, chenille, sateen, and damask are all words that apply to fabrics in some fashion.

Worsted wool, especially damask fabrics of it were definitely upscale and expensive, and went way beyond imitating silk, many of the dresses you'll see of English royalty including most of those wore by queen Victoria were made out of wool not silk.

A lot of guys own a chambray shirt, and if you google "damask tablecloth" they'll probably look familiar from restaurants.

[Edit] Incidentally, I supposed the name "Damascus" was related to the patterned silk fabric named "damask", rather than the origin of the material being the Damascus area.

Damask is a bit more funny word in that video games tend to commonly use it for items, given that it was popular during the middle ages.
