Edit: It has been a couple of years since I paid attention, but finding a Cree (flashlight) LED with a high-CRI is tough.

Reminds me of that old Cree Indian prophesy: Only after the last tree has been cut down.

But the highest efficiency color for LEDs to produce largely depends on what Cree and Nichia are doing this year.

My HDS has a Cree with 90+ CRI with a 3700k tint which is somewhat rare.

My (American-made except for LED) HDS with it's high-CRI Cree LED is my best flashlight ($200).

Go in and look at their Cree bulb displays (both warm and daylight colors).

I'd just take that $600 I might have spent on a lamp, buy Cree stock instead.

The review in question sounds like an infomercial for Cree and DesigningwithLEDs.com.

If I owned my own house, I would probably get the Cree recessed lights today.

I was reading the datasheet of the Cree XT-E [1] which is > 90 CRI at warm-white and still 130 lumens per watt.

Now Cree did have a 25W, 3 GHz FET in SO-8 package, which is kind of strange given package inductance, but they are have moved to QFN now.

The first couple I took apart to determine if the LEDs were the problem (they weren't, the power supplies are the weak link), this one I'm going to send back to Cree to see if they actually honor the 10 year warranty, on my 3 month old bulb.

Cree has popped up a number of times in technical articles as a leader in white LEDs.

Cree LEDs have a 20 year lifetime, and a 10-year limited warranty.

Cree, Tsez or Nama/Khoekhoe would melt the average adult American's or European's brain, but their native speakers can handle them while tired, ill and intoxicated.
