It reminds me of the circular port of Carthage which was build hundreds of years earlier.

BTW Carthage was a Colony so not realy non european in that sense.

Perhaps if some battles had happened differently, we'd be remembering Carthage as the great classical empire.

It's like a sticking around Carthage after the ground has been salted.

Rome barely manged to wipe out Carthage and it wasn't easy.

Rome killed everyone in Carthage and salted the earth.

You can't just sit at the beach, because humans are hungry animals and you're probably somewhere in that chain (Rome → Italy → Sicily → Carthage → Greece).

Moreover, I advise that Carthage must be destroyed.

And you know, a bunch of Romans with the pinnacle of technology - the sharp thing on a long stick - in the Battle of Carthage collectively had about 100,000 casualties and also demolished a city.

Also those weapons are several orders of magnitude less powerful than what they’re capable of today… Battle of Carthage was also 3 years and was a siege of a city, so you know… not a lot of places for the people inside to escape.
