Tim Bray or not, it's irresponsible to point out a pile of shit without pointing to a shovel.

First off, let's accept that what Bray is talking about is healthcare.

For those of you not familiar with the Wide Finder project, it's a benchmark (sorta) that Tim Bray uses to compare different programming languages.

I like Tim Bray and anyone who writes about clojure or lisp, but I feel like I'm tripping on acid here.

One of the things I really like about Concur.next, and Tim Bray in general, is the humility with which he approaches things.

Someday Bray will understand what TCO really is.

I'm not picking on Tim Bray (in fact I applaud his experiments).

In other words, I'm with Tim Bray on this one.

To me, I know of Tim Bray because of XML.

I would say Tim Bray is making an amazing effort to tackle the hard problem of optimizing a language that he has even at this point only passing familiarity.

That's not true in general, but since in this case Tim Bray seems to be implicitly proposing an alternative of sorts (never mind whether it's in fact any better) that isn't really relevant.

Or in the nicely chosen words of Tim Bray, "A lot of people don't get along with Dave"

Maybe the obtuseness that Tim Bray described here is just not "the way to do it".

Bray does add "Don’t do that though, get yourself some IDE help."

Turns out, the second one is originally from one Phil Karlton (as reported by Tim Bray [1], that's enough authority for me), without the "off-by-one" part.

Bray has been muddling around naively because he's a regular guy with a popular blog.

I don't know much about Tim Bray, and I don't usually read its articles.

Tim Bray's been interested in it, which is where I first heard about it.
