South Eastern and Central Melbourne is a much nicer are than Bendigo (I assume you've at least been to Bendigo given your username).

Most of them aren't even based in Melbourne, they're out in regional centres like Bendigo and Warrnambool[0].

Weirdly, in Bendigo a bunch of Asian tour buses came up from Melbourne explicitly so they could raid the supermarkets.

To get an inkling of the degree of organisation involved as a result of these policies, just google 'bendigo mental health'.

A house in a smaller city like Bendigo is $400+ a week.

And not to get too abstract - nobody has even solved homelessness in Bendigo for the locals, let alone for people shipped out from Melbourne!

I think Google calendar is a good example, and both Commonwealth Bank and Bendigo Bank in Australia have done good mobile sites.

I'd (before this article) be pretty comfortable following phone directions from say Bendigo to Mildura, which should just be a straight run down Calder Hwy.

Cheaper options are available in a regional city called Bendigo some 35km away, and I've no doubt that there are even greater discounts available in larger cities.

Not comparing Apples to Apples, but the 1 bedroom apartment I bought in Melbourne suburbs in 2016 was AU$265k If I look at somewhere like Bendigo (about 2 hours from Melbourne).

An example that strikes me as a stepping stone towards this (although, I believe, a little less clear cut) is Up in Australia, a partnership between a software company and Bendigo Bank, e.g.

Every bank I've been with (Commonwealth, ANZ and Bendigo) has instant transfers between accounts within the same bank.

I also don't understand why Up/Bendigo decided to disincentivise putting all my money in my Up account.

The nearest billboard ads of any sort would be over a hundred kilometres away, in Horsham, Ballarat or Bendigo, and not much at that.
