Anectote 1: One of my friend tried to climb the Aconcagua with two friends and not enough experience.

Yes the altitude is harder than the distance:) Aconcagua has cca 30% summit rate mainly due to frequent high winds which make windchill temperatures go to -30s C easily.

On the other hand, she tried to summit Aconcagua during a spring break and couldn't make it due to altitude sickness.

This is likely because of the influence of Mt Aconcagua in South America, a popular training ground for would-be Mt Everest summiteers.

Nearly all guided Everest expeditions require previous high-peak mountaineering experience to join the expedition, in places such as Aconcagua and Denali [1][2][3].

If there is an altitude limit, it's usually 6000 m, so Everest Base Camp and Kilimanjaro would be covered but Aconcagua wouldn't.

And I took it everywhere, all hikes and skitours, many climbs, got with it to 6000m altitude on Aconcagua too.

I've trained in similar fashion for my trip to Aconcagua or Nepal, and never researched for that nor discussed with anybody.

True, Mount Aconcagua (~23,000 feet) is way taller, but it doesn’t feel as dramatic as Fuji or Rainier because it’s surrounded by other big peaks in the Andes.

I recall vividly, when doing Aconcagua trip few years ago, one team member was a 2nd or 3rd generation taiwanese immigrant lady from New York.

One prerequisite though - it was 5500m high on Aconcagua camp (we camped also in 6000m but sky was the last thing I was concerned about there).

It also brings freedom in eating - keeping huge amount of muscles while doing some 3-week effort on Aconcagua...

The highest peak in the Andes, is Mount Aconcagua, which is just under 7,000 meters.

This is a common practice in other high altitude, high traffic mountains, such as Aconcagua.
