Colleagues and friends over the pond don't use the EDK for abseiling or rappelling as they say.

Well I had fun reading this article, because I read it while abseiling off a sixty-story building naked.

Just as abseiling reduces wear on rope compared to lowering, ferry mounted drive means limited dragging across what could be possibly very abrasive surfaces at each shore (sand, rocks, etc).

Try bouldering, abseiling, boxing, anything that makes you uncomfortable like talking to strangers, going to social events on your own if you're shy etc.

At abseiling you make the bend on one end, put the rope through the carabiner on top of the route and use both ropes to get down on.

This is primarily a concern when using it as a backup for abseiling or lowering, or in any situation where you may take a fall onto the friction hitch.
