Even after a major hardware snafu that cost them an estimated 3 billion dollars they kept fighting. After six years of work, it's finally doing well.

A 'snafu' does not lift the burden of you handling your own responsibilities, and being an entrepreneur shouldn't matter to them. The system needs to be reformed, but until it is you need to abide by its rules.

Just the other night I got to experience being "down" when as far as my routers were concerned I was "up", some maintenance snafu upstream had my traffic stuck in a routing loop. But no BGP failover because as far as my router was concerned it could talk to its peer.

Yet, IBM didn't hire me because they were ridiculously careful with hiring H1-B visas because of a snafu they had in the early 80s when the immigration dept cracked down on them. At least IBMs engineering divisions were only hiring H1B folks only if you had 2 years of experience with a Bachelors, or a Masters.
