Once can easily crack a WPA2 passphrase easily in a few hours using a tool like reaver.

People suggest disabling it these days because tools like reaver can use it to access a network in a few minutes.

The WPS flaw has been patched in a bunch of routers however the program Reaver was able to exploit it rather quickly.
