You are getting downvoted because you hurt the feelings of many HNers by saying something truthful.

Of course, many HNers that hate Java aren't aware of those discussions and post comments without knowing the full background.

This elitist sort of viewpoint that HNers are somehow smarter, better, or faster than most people at nearly everything isn't very helpful.

We're especially interested in hearing from HNers who run their own business: have you set up a 401k plan for your employees?

They poison the discourse, and you owe greater respect to your fellow HNers.

I understand a lot of HNers and redditors believe race and gender are not purely social constructs.

But the users saying this were good, observant HNers, and I kept hearing it, and it got me worried.

HNers were always quick to suggest he change his open source licence.

If it takes this many HNers to try to decipher its meaning, I doubt there's any hope for the average population.

Not sure I share the experience w/LinkedIn that apparently the majority of HNers have.

I am not crazy about saying exactly where I work and exactly what I do, but isn't that true for a lot of HNers?

It's only acceptable because it's a cause many HNers believe in, and the money does not seem "real" since it's abstracted out through tax collection and distribution.
