If you work on Windows and want something with full vector graphic drawing, take a look at Xara Designer Pro or Xara Web Designer Premium.

Inkscape (free) does this (.svg export), and Xara Xtreme (cheap and worth the price) does it too.

It reminded me more of FreeHand or Canvas or Xara than Adobe, which was a great thing.

There is the HiFive Xara X280 announced in May, but that is believed to be available to SiFive licensees only.

Adobe hasn't been able, nor has Corel or Xara or Serif and several other companies.

If you want a tool like this for Windows, you want Xara Designer Pro probably.

It's definitely a sad end, though I still think that what happened with Xara was the real tragedy.

In the meantime, for of those on Windows, I would recommend trying Xara Photo and Graphic Designer.

I still refuse to use anything but Xara designer, and have made my children play with it.

The only app that could have made that claim on OS X is/was Freehand (as DrawPlus, CorelDraw, Canvas, and Xara are all currently Windows-only).

If you're looking for a Windows alternative, Xara is still hanging around.

One huge problem with Xara's "open source" move was they kept a critical element closed source: "Xara and the volunteer developer community disagreed from almost the very beginning about a crucial issue: the company's decision to keep the application's core rendering library CDraw closed source.

Xara on Windows and Affinity on Mac will be my go-to apps for vector drawing.

If I remember correctly, a group of ex-Xara developers moved to Serif to write it.

Obviously ArtWorks, with significant UI changes, morphed into Xara, but I think DrawPlus got ported to Windows in some form too.
