These features are never implemented as opt-in and the only way to opt-out is with something like uMatrix.

It's kind of funny to open up Verge with both uBlock and uMatrix enabled only allowing only 1st party scripts.

I didn't realize how prevalent Google's JS and font CDNs were until I ran uMatrix for a while.

Probably one of ghostery, ublock or umatrix takes care of those for me.

I just tested this with uMatrix where I use pretty much the defaults, but allow the two CDNs for theverge.com.

If you download the source for uBlock/uMatrix, and run locally you avoid the auto-updating of the add-on while being able to vet the source.

I use uMatrix, and I have already whitelisted loading scripts from common CDNs as global rules.

As tools like uBlock and uMatrix get widespread adoption more and more people are realizing how much extraneous junk is being loaded by webpages.

I did the same, but with ublock origin in advanced mode and umatrix, which gives me even more control on what request goes where.

I'm a pretty happy user of uMatrix, it takes a while to get used to but it is very powerful and gets the job done.
