Daum KaKao is combined company of Daum communications & KaKao.

Daum Kakao is the parent company, and looks to have their fingers in a lot of generic web services pies.

(It is second largest portal in Korea, the first is Naver) KaKao made a KaKaoTalk, which is dominant messaging app in South Korea.

Daum KaKao now focusing on mobile service since it has dominant messaging app in Korea.

Korean people rely on Naver map or Kakao map, who do not even provide APIs.

At this time, Daum (before merged with KaKao) made messaging app named MyPeople.

I wouldn't choose to use kakao but since a lot of my contacts use it I kind of have to!

My wife uses Kakao and she got me on it too.
