There are a lot technics on different levels to save you for some time depending on your bottlenecks.

Granted, Legos are so good that you can still build other things from basic Legos and Technics these days.

It are actually langauges like clojure that push some of the technics like constraint logic programming more into the mainstream.

You can still buy specific general technics sets, they're part of the 'education' range, but afaik anyone can buy them.

Twitter will push a lot of videos using all sort of technics just like Facebook.

Mainly because of the floating devices: I used to have close to the entire range of Lego Technics, but there was none of the things which could float.
