Most of these settings are probably related to Cortana (the new Siri/Google Now like feature in Windows 10).

That's just to help roam your settings and hook up to Azure if you've got an account.

Also, if you go to the Privacy settings, you can disable things like Cortana and other services.

To be clear, all this data sharing is on by default, but all the settings to turn this data sharing off do exist, they're just buried in settings (as they should be).

What does annoy me is that they still obscure these settings, and fail to explain what exactly they are for.

All companies should be legally required to make those invasive privacy settings opt-in and not opt-out...

You can ignore all other settings like screen size, user agent, etc.

Reminds me of how so many old games had.dat files (or something similar) that you could mess with initial settings or screw with the sounds.

I chose "Custom Install", and there were about 10 privacy settings that I turned off (all on by default) before I felt comfortable using the OS.

Reports are suggesting it requires quite a bit more than the "Privacy settings" to disable this crap, and is only possible in the "enterprise" variant.

I'm on the "leaders" link, but I know perfectly well that plenty of my comments would have had me banned from any real world settings...and that includes comments that got upmodded.
