I have no idea what OP is talking about with regards to being obnoxious, pathological liars, self-promoters, etc.

The pathological liars and self-promoters are usually not as common among developer communities.

They asked some participants to describe a time they had bragged about themselves (self-promoters) and asked others to describe a time that they were on the receiving end of someone else’s bragging (recipients).

People are obnoxious and narcissistic; many are pathological liars and self-promoters.

Especially introvert devs who are the farthest thing from self-promoters.

We hate short-term thinkers, self-promoters, big egos.

I tend to flag the more egregious self-promoters.

YC bases its model on picking winners who are excellent self-promoters.

And maybe an organization would be better off if they just hired high achieving women as they may collectively take a company to higher heights that a bunch of self-promoters looking out for number one.

I empathise with the tedium of dealing with self-promoters who think they're god's gift to business despite having money; on the other hand surely the payoff of being an angel is having founding capital in the one project out of 50 or 100 that hits the jackpot and eventually goes public.
