In the old neighborhoods, children played in the streets where any number of people could see them from store keepers to police or nosey old people. In the high rises, they were left completely to their own devices.

The negative way would be to say Germans are aloof and Americans are nosey. Or maybe Germans are askers and Americans are guessers?

Since our classification scheme arguably has next to zero effect on someone who isn't inside Australia, their opinions on what we decide to enact are irrelevant and nosey. A variation on "Why should you be able to tell me what I can/cannot do in bed with my wife?"

Our nosey old blue-haired neighbor had to comment to another neighbor about how unfortunate it was for us that our clothes-dryer had obviously broken, and we must not be able to afford a new one. What's really funny is that we have a privacy fence around three sides of our fairly large back yard.

Being nosey means they feed that information into databases at companies like Blue Kai. The result is that she has a shadow identity in those systems that is exactly 10 years younger.

Rural communities aren't great places to hide because everyone is nosey and tend to be suspicious about recent arrivals. Huge cities are easier to disappear into anonymity.

Not that I think you need to worry about kidnapping, but in the city people are acclimated to ignoring their neighbors, whereas in small towns and exurbs there are a lot of nosey busybodies up in your business.

I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic here, but in case you're not: the idea that people are not allowed to have opinions on things that don't directly affect them is startling.

Then again my primary use case of github is reading code to learn and having a nosey at how good a coder someone is, so I'm generally looking for the bulk of a program, hence the usefulness of file size and the uselessness of commit comments.
