There are obvious differences, a mini-split in a hot part of the world is going to be working harder than a mini-split in a cooler part of the world.

No special cooling other than the mini-split that was in the closet to cool the server rack.

With a mini-split solution, a dedicated heat exchanger system would need to be installed separately from the main source of heating and cooling.

I do think more people should consider mini-split reversible AC in the UK, but the subsidy system specifically excludes it.

If you already have a mini-split, that has some truth.

With that amount of money, I might have instead have a mini-split variable-rate air conditioning system installed and achieved better savings long term.

Even if it I had a nice modern mini-split down there to provide that supplemental heat: That would mean having air-to-water heat exchanger that is backed up by an air-to-air heat exchanger that is already at the edge of its efficiency curve because it's cold outside.
