Well, short of Pioneer Kuro units, the Panasonic plasmas were the best screens of their time and are still very, very good.

As someone who had a Pioneer Kuro for a long time (no more), they did have the reputation of having blacker blacks.

I did buy a few Uni Kuro Toga pencils a few years ago (the cheaper models).

Took down my Pioneer Kuro a couple of weeks ago.

I once conducted a side-by-side with a Pioneer Kuro plasma, PRO-111fd.

I highly recommend getting the kuro toga pipe slide.

I just don’t think the panels are ready for that The main apps I use as a result are Tachiyomi, the included boox neoreader, and kuro reader for vertical scrolling and some formats neoreader struggles with.

In December 2007 I bought a 50" Pioneer Elite Kuro 1080p plasma, at the time the best TV available.

There's a "pipe slide" model of the kuro toga that will slide the pipe with the writing so only a little bit of lead is exposed at all times.

When I bought my then state-of-the-art Pioneer Elite Kuro 1080p non-internet-connected (there was no such thing) 50" plasma in late 2007 — I paid $5,150 — it seemed logical to have it professionally calibrated and I did so, paying $350.
