How many Polish only speakers do you see in Hamtramck in spite of the large Polish-descended population there?

When a massive computer-controlled 'robogate' welding machine smashed a car body, or a welding machine stopped dead, the entire Hamtramck line would stop.

The original goal was to make more of the cars over time at Hamtramck resemble the Volt, which was closer to a cross-over in G1.

I probably went through Hamtramck a couple times, Grosse Pointe had almost no foreclosures.

(The Gen 1 Volt was a hatchback intended to push the Hamtramck sedan plant away from being entirely sedans.

The short-sighted decision for cost cutting in the G2 Volt was to push it more proper sedan-like to make it more like everything else that Hamtramck was producing.

The Gen 1 Volt could have easily been sent back to another plant, but the Gen 2 Volt was doomed when bean counters thought closing Hamtramck the best bet.

But then the Gen 2 Volt for short term efficiency retooled to be a more sedan-like car to better fit the rest of Hamtramck's production, instead of the original plan to push at least one more Hamtramck vehicle towards the cross-over form factor.

Downtown, midtown, cork-town, belle isle, Eastern Market, Hamtramck and a few blocks on the east side (and others) are all ok to go visit for the suburbanites.

Still haven't found a good half-size pan for my "Hamtramck style" pizza (Detroit style with kielbasa).

The Volt was original intended to be the "savior" of the venerable Hamtramck plant, as it was the future of what was to be built there.

The Gen 1 Volt was lauded for being a more "cross-over-like" assembly for the Hamtramck plant, with the long-term goal of moving Hamtramck away from traditional sedans and more towards cross-overs because the American writing was already in the wind (why the Gen 1 Volt was made there and not a plant already more familiar with cross-overs).

The Bolt is closer to a cross-over than a true sedan (which mostly just goes to show the categories are dumb and another reason "no one buys sedans" is a stupid statement because the distinctions are more gray than black-and-white), but more importantly has never been manufactured in the sedan-mostly Hamtramck plant.

Hamtramck was an almost entirely Polish enclave that is now populated by mostly Arab immigrants.

So the Volt shutting down was further short-sighted side effect of GM killing all sedans/Hamtramck.

Hamtramck is another city surrounded by Detroit, except for the portion that borders Highland Park.
