It's not ethnocentrism, it's real. Even from wealthy countries in East Asia where the strict Confucian relationships put huge burdens on women.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a certain amount of ethnocentrism. It is taken for granted that culture matters in say a startup, so I see no reason not to extend that thinking to nations.

Besides that, the other stuff is racism or at least ethnocentrism. Contemporary American culture places a weird value on being "well rounded" that is alien both to asian culture and to American culture of years past.

You seem to want to interpret every aspect of the constitution with rabid ethnocentrism, but most of the actual authors of the document had a much broader perspective on humanity.

The oroblem with non-whites not quite fitting in is real, though, and much worse than in the US. Besides color, muslims are pretty hard to assimilate, so there will be not only color-based racism but also cultural ethnocentrism. Imagine you have the problems of economic class and then add another dimension of cultural class.

There might be some ethnocentrism here... I might be wrong but it seems to me like you make an assumption about this generation that is only valid in US. I live in Europe and when I think about people I know, there is nothing controversial about it and we don't have to wait for future generations - we consider it barbaric now and as far as I know it's illegal - I mean people can be put to cells alone but they can read books, they have right to go for a walk with other prisoners for an hour and stuff like that - when I talk about solitary confinement I mean conditions described in that article.
