The pesticide class neonicotinoids (clothianidin, thiamethoxam, and imidacloprid) has been accused of being the cause of CCD.

We do known that Clothianidin caused the bee deaths in Baden-Württemberg (Germany) in 2008[1], which led to a ban for corn seeds[2].

The most widespread neonicotinoids, like the clothianidin in seed-treated rapeseed, weren't introduced until 2002.

If the clothianidin LD50 is 3.4 ng/bee, and they are administering.74 ng/bee/day, it seems likely that some bees will die from acute poisoning.

I had to ask a follow-up before it concluded clothianidin probably will kill carpet beetles.

Part of the reason is clothianidin is too effective at killing insects and tends to persist in the environment and kill bees and butterflies and the like so it isn't recommended for harmless stuff like carpet beetles.

And in [8] they also showed that Osmia Bicornis failed to create hives by rapeseed fields where clothianidin were used, but in average created 2.88 hives by non-treated fields.

Interestingly, I asked Perplexity the same thing and it said that clothianidin is not commonly recommended for carpet beetles, and suggested other insecticides and growth regulators.

A "link" and "correlation" is already well-established[1][2][3][4], and the toxicity of clothianidin in honeybees is not the issue here.
