I plain can't decide if this clickety-clack noise is part of the feedback loop the typist uses or not.

I started programming with Turbo Pascal when I was around 7 years old, I still remember the green glow of the CRT and the clickety-clack of oh-so-heavy mechanical keyboards.

I get a new keyboard once a year, typically mechanical, although I sometimes enjoy 'low profile' or thin keyboards if I'm going to typing a lot and don't want as much clickety-clack / noise.

Another alternative for people who still love macOS but can't tolerate the dumpster fire that is the butterfly keyboard is to get a new Mac Mini, then get a monitor of your choice and righteous clickety-clack buckling spring keyboard to go with it.

I use TTC Silent Bluish White switches which produce a muted "thock" sound, rather than the loud "clickety-clack" that you're probably thinking of.

"There's a clickety-clack, but not a snap" When you have a model M your keys (as shown in the article) essentially, buckle - and it requires more force.

Clickety-clack is also bad for high speeds but Im not sure how fast are they in the UK.
