Even if you consider annotations, Traceur(Google) had them before they were implemented by Yehuda in Typescript.

Look at Yehuda Katz with Ember for instance, or the guy Bob who wrote nvd3.

I think (not 100% sure) Tom & Yehuda (of Ember) talk about how they became disenfranchised with 2-way bindings in their recent Changelog podcast episode on Ember 2 [1].

That's what I love about open source too, when I look at the work and productivity of John Resig or Yehuda Katz for example, I feel inadequate but it's also tremendously motivating....

Yehuda already replied, but allow me to summarize: the point is that Rails will do these things automatically, without developers having to think about them.

Yehuda Katz uses it for production code for skylight.io, he's also a core Rust contributor though.

Yehuda was invited to be a core team member because of his use of Rust in skylight.io, not the other way around.
