The problem is that there is a huge range of smell (or stench) depending on what bacteria tends to cluster in your underarms.

Those with the gene have a chemical in their underarms and groins that bacteria feeds on, producing a stinkier odor.

This nasty fucker, I don't think he ever showered, always had those huge perspiration wet spots under his underarms.

I smell no different, granted I apply deodorant to my underarms once a day but probably would not have to.

Additionally I discovered that the stains in the underarms of my clothing went away, apparently it's caused by the deodorants.

I also shave my underarms, which probably helps -- less surface area for bacteria to grow and sweat dries faster.

If sanitizing your underarms was sufficient to get rid of odor and sweat indefinitely, then a big iodine swab would do the job faster and even cheaper.

:) Another note: perhaps you could only clean your underarms to reduce the (possible) smell and leave everything else intact (if you do not hang around your arms raised, that should be a good strategy).

I started using the higher temperatures occasionally since I have some old t-shirts, but I always have to stop wearing them since the underarms develop a crust - I guess it's some kind of bio-reaction between me, my bacteria ride hitchers, and deodorant.

The quick fixes (low hanging fruit) buy time to gedankenversuch your big architectural solution, so you can apply your critical mind to tearing it down, rebuilding it, boiling the ocean for tea, and tearing it down again while washing your underarms in the shower[1].
