I had seen el wire before but only in the context of building suits like those from Tron Legacy.

One story I've heard is that the original Tron was responsible for a lot of this.

While the Tron styling is cute, I think there's some real map usability improvements here.

Yea, but this one has more similarities than just being another tron-like game: all the items that can be picked up is the same, the ability to add local player and the arrow that marks you at the start is the same.

The global Linux installbase absolutely dwarfs Windows in comparison by the simple nature that Linux runs on more hardware architectures than any general purpose operating system ever created (which rules out iTron, eTron, and the tron variants).

This is great but calling it a Tron-like game is just straight up deceiving and makes it sound like "oh, I came with up with this awesome idea based on Tron".

I've been writing multiplayer tron-like games as a "hello-world" style programming exercise for 20 years now and have done numerous variations including curves, and wiimotes and the like.

"Tron" could also be an shortening of "Electron" but without the hassle of an apostrophy, e.g.

I submit that while what you and I now see thimble.io are doing is very worthwhile (I found it fun back in the '70s), Tron-Club is doing a fundamentally different and also worthwhile thing, teaching basic electronics, or as they say "Over 252 Circuits per year".

A couple things: 1) Using 'Tron' could be a bit problematic if Disney's lawyers get bored.

Tron looks like great basic circuit education/exposure, while we're doing things more on a project level.

I can just imagine these on the wall of Flynn's office at Encom in 'Tron'...
