I can't find a way to turn on topographical data, though, which I'm a big fan of, as a bicyclist.

How about showing it overlaid with a topographical map?

Google earth is cool but the typical user doesn't need to load topographical details and 3d buildings when landing on the home page for maps...

All webrings were missing was a HUD. A top-down topographical map of the ring and an indicator of your position in it at any given point would have been awesome.

That doesn't show topographical data, seems to only show terrain, as far as i can tell, the areas in the mountains i hike often are not showing lines.

It may be fairly simple for you to change your design to generate a static call graph for the nodes using topographical sort. Then on each "tick" you simply execute each node, in order, from top to bottom.

I'm assuming a lot of wind is slowed down by topographical features at lower altitudes. At 9000m and above there seems to be little difference between land and sea in the visualisation.

Unless Gruber et al are under some amazing assumption that Google now has no investment in Maps, is not getting street data, topographical data, traffic data any more. Though, mind you, this assumption isn't far fetched.

For example, I have a website where users can create custom 3D topographical models on the fly and I would love to offer them a slick viewer like Sketchfab's instead of my own attempts at WebGL. But I am not going to upload the models to Sketchfab's server and blow through your ridiculously low storage limit. For $15 a month I could store a total of ~70 models.

Geometry, general map building stuff for RPG/geofiction, Biological tables for determining plausible biomes, Geology references for plausible terrains and even a site on how to do pretty relief shading like is done on classic topographical maps!
