What I want to know is WTF they did with the topographic map mode on Android.

When I go to places I don't know, I carry a printed topographic/thematic map.

I'd also like to see an underlying topographic map.

They recently got rid of topographic data for the mobile Maps application.

They do not even come close to providing comprehensive topographic mapping.

I think that traditional topographic mapping is not very useful from a business standpoint.

It obviously wouldn't work as a map, but it might be nice to integrate a lot of standard topographic map features into the models themselves.
