What is loose talus? Is it like scree?

It took me months to get decent at walking across loose talus. You really have to learn to trust your boots and listen to your proprioception and be very aware of where your center of gravity is.

The reasons in the wikipedia article are no longer valid apart from the instability of the wall and talus.

By this I mean in transit terrain, meaning that they flew into something like the talus or a giant rock and didn't have enough time to avoid it. Quite a few more deaths are from inability to deploy the parachute in time.
