In my experience the black interiors in Staub and Chasseur, which are not easier to clean, at least look brand new when you prime them with a little olive oil between cooking sessions.

In German I see: "putzen ist gut staub ist so schlecht mach jetzt deinen zauber sauber mein teppich" This is complete nonsense.

I got a 12" Staub skillet for $80 and a 4qt Le Cruset dutch oven for $100, and a smaller Lodge dutch oven for $40.

Unless you're talking about enameled cast iron (Le Creuset, Staub), then acidic ingredients like tomatoes will remove the seasoning from your pan.

I prefer Le Crueset for one key reason: they are light colored on the interior surfaces rather than Staub’s black interiors.

Staub/Le Creuset or their more reasonably priced alternative is great...
