Do the amount of splines and their distances away from each other have anything to do with it?

This is if you want to do something more fancy than OpenGL, such as ray-trace or use splines.

That's where the Bezier curves (and splines) come in, they allow you to specify a complex curve using only a few points.

There are various approaches to making the computations faster, say, using multivariate splines to approximate some of the functions (tables) to be generated, the R.

Apparently it's a Brazilian term roughly analogous to "reticulation of the splines".

If I recall correctly, a literal translation is used ("reticulando os splines").

:) And, yes, that's pretty much it, although "rebimboca da parafuseta" is less obscure than "reticulation of the splines" (if you're Brazilian, anyway).

The easiest way is to draw a spline or a bezier curve, along one axis, then apply a "lathing" function, which duplicates the spline, rotating about the axis, and then connecting the splines at each control point on the spline/curve.

A few years ago I was doing some work with Splines, trying to smooth some noisy plant data and I had to relearn matrix decomposition (LU factorisation).
