In the self post spez makes it seem like they will not run advertisements on such subreddits.

This is especially true in regards to /u/spez's statements regarding his dislike for deleted comments.

When Reddit was young, I sent a couple bug reports and feature requests to spez & kn0thing.

I've been on Reddit since the first week, right after Spez and Alexis got it hacked together.

Am I the only one who didn't see anything of value in this AMA from /u/spez?

As long as Spez is transparent, communicates effectively, and doesn't come across as arbitrary I think it'll work out fine.

In the past your consent wasn't required to be made a moderator of a subreddit; that's probably how u/spez became a moderator of r/cannibals.

Also, look at the subreddits that u/spez is moderator of.

Assuming Spez doesn't screw this up, I'm not seeing how Voat.co will benefit.

Also, when spez and I moved on to hipmunk we started using tornado.

I think Spez is a good choice, probably the best choice, but remember that he's been working on a different, unrelated startup for 5 years now.

Spez is hosting an AMA right now with 15k comments, and 2k new ones since I last refreshed, I'd hardly call that only responding in mainstream media.
