Well, the point is, Shotwell is the COO of SpaceX, which makes this whole thing weird.

The PR effort in this case was being lead by Gwynne Shotwell who is the President & COO.

Quick correction to the article: Gwynne Shotwell is not the President & CEO, she is the President & COO.

I use Shotwell to upload to Picasa which is really a thin wrapper around G+.

On Linux, there is a photo app named shotwell.

It imports pictures into Shotwell just fine.

I just installed Shotwell to make a more informed opinion.

Otherwise, there's a bug: With copies of keys and cleartexts from /usr/bin, I tried./lenticrypt.py -e eqn shotwell -e grep php -o f1 php was the largest cleartext at 4388Kb.

Some of the documentation of your site is quite good (eg the Shotwell architectural documentation for programmers), some is pretty perfunctory (eg the Shotweel user documentation, or the almost-non-existent documentation for the deprectated Fillmore project).

Okay so we lost: Banshee (Media Player) Shotwell (Photo Manager) the programs were coming out quickly and looking great then FUD.

Or in other words: I can't imagine SpaceX engineers haven't worked all this out in detail, and I can't imagine SpaceX would be trying this if they didn't have good reason to think it would work, and I can't imagine that SpaceX engineers aren't professionally competent, so, based on the standard "what I can't imagine can't be true", Shotwell is spouting irrelevancies.

The default view in Digikam is not so different than that from Shotwell, a folder list to the left and the corresponding pictures to the right.

I switched my Nexus 4 from MTP to PTP mode and fired up Shotwell, Ubuntu's default photo manager.

With Digikam I just press a button and have that, I haven't found it possible in Shotwell, it's either one large photo at a time or many little photos.
