Some of my most vivid memories regarding video games is playing Myst and Riven with my friends.

Myst and especially Riven mainly concentrated mainly on exploring, while not so much on puzzle solving.

There isn't some kind of god riven right to transportation, it is always conditions permitting.

As wolfgke points out, there are a lot of games that were inspired by Myst and Riven, but unfortunately I've never found one that got it right the way Riven did.

If you found Riven enjoyable, the puzzles are slightly easier and simpler.

Even Myst didn't really accomplish this to the same extent Riven did.

I found Riven simply enthralling, in a way that no game before or since has been.

I was a big Riven fan but I never tried URU so far - this seems like a great chance doing that.

I only really went through the original and Riven - what's Uru, and were there more installments in the whole Myst universe?

The 14th century saw it riven with a series of civil wars, which the Ottomans used to expand their foothold into the remnants of the Ottoman Empire.

Given its inability to propose legislation, it is hamstrung compared to a typical national legislature, not to mention being riven by petty disputes of language nationalism and so forth.

And yet many regard its sequel, Riven, as one of the best puzzle games ever made.

Does anybody know if there is a way to play it (or the even better sequel, Riven) on modern computers?

The thing about Riven, for me, that made it so compelling was that the puzzles were mostly integrated seamlessly into the world.
