You don't need a robot, systems that pull ripcord out on exit are used since WW2 in the military.

This is the Rust equivalent of an unhandled exception and the ripcord being pulled.

I believe the point was that people detest that working environment, and those with a choice will pull the ripcord, whereas people who can't get another job will stay.

Of course it's not ideal with bans and API updates pulling the rug from under you with no warning, but actually not that many people get banned and ripcord (thirdparty client) was working for a long time even after being abandoned.

Perhaps the author of this article could have chosen a just slightly more graceful way of leaving, but I just can't fault his decision to pull the ripcord as soon as he realized the plane was on its way down.
