Reading the title, I was reminded of the disorder Porphyria [0], which is memorable for being similar to some vampire myths.

Life long Porphyria sufferer here, a hallmark symptom is Insomnia.

I saw an episode of a TV series about a small-town GP recently where in the end it turned out to actually be porphyria.
