I also concur with other posts here in pointing out that the books Effective Java [2] and Practical Java [3] are information-rich sources on nit-picky and gritty Java concerns.

I don't know, not to be nit-picky, but how am I supposed to believe a future human society can fly special forces to a far away planet and mind-control a genetically modified species, but still can't get a paralyzed dude to walk again on the cheap?

If you're nit-picky about your CSS (as I am) and just want to write it the way you want to write it without a framework making guiding decisions for you, I recommend the lightweight library Bourbon by thoughtbot (and the companion library Neat for a grid framework).

I know this will sound nit-picky, but it's one of my pet peeves: don't talk about "war stories" unless they involve you getting shot at.

(Also, not to be nit-picky but because I think it's an important distinction, I don't think the investigation here "proved its benefit", but rather showed only that those users tested liked it.
