What is cumbersome in the Nimrod is the awkward encapsulation.

I had forgotten that the first letter is compared case sensitively as I remembered from Nimrod it was all insensitive.

And HN was doing so well, I haven't seen a nimrod post on here in days.

If you change the URL from nimrod to nim it works.

And Node.js now is slower than pypy 2.5.1 in many benchs:) I think Nimrod is something we should be looking at.

I didn't mind working from an 8x8 cube, but my current tiny desk in a maze of desks, all alike, is the pits (cue some nimrod posturing about how this enhances agile/availability/WTFever).

Case in point, the previous examples, Nimrod changed their language name to Nim, and have seen a recent surge in visibility/popularity, Losethos renamed to TempleOS, and has seen a similar wave of attention...

Not that I'd ever challenge the claim that Nimrod generally focuses on concision whereas Go is intended for environments in which such concision is generally discouraged and the two languages have perfectly predictable line counts on this sort of task after that, but the comparisons are definitely less meaningful than a first glance indicates for a lot of these.

Pity that the language is still called "Nimrod" there though.

That's because Swift, Ceylon, Pyret, Rust, Nimrod make (relatively) small changes in syntax and semantics compared to Python, Java, C and friends - this is the Algol family of languages if you are old enough (and the "C" family if not).

Meanwhile the UK govt is cutting Infantry battalions and investing 10s of billions of GBP in Eurofighter and Nimrod.

Not 100% accurate answer, but I think they call Python with Haskell typing Nim (formerly Nimrod).

There are bindings in a lot of languages (Common Lisp, Nimrod, Lua, Go, D...) and it's a real pleasure to use!
