The reason uberman works is because you are getting REM sleep during those 20 minute naps.

It should not be a bunch of couches, though a couch for naps is good.

I imagine however, prior to modern society, humans took naps more often, especially in agrarian societies after particularly laborious days.

Man, I take one of those naps every day and I'm not even running 100 miles.

Almost none of the venues guarantee quiet, secure places for naps.

Not to mention naps for people who get that noon slump.

There are some polyphasic sleep techniques that basically exploit this and have sveral short naps of light sleep throughout the 24 day instead of a night's sleep.

Make sure mom takes naps after the baby's born.

I also believe in "bi-phasic" sleep of shorter nights and significant naps, again, this has been established reasonably well.

That said, I'm leaning towards one of the "core sleep plus naps" variants this time around rather than the 6x20 minute routine.

I'm not doing this now but when was working on my startup and working a regular job, I was taking "caffeine naps" at 4:30.

"The device has modes for both ‘power naps’ (which last around 30 minutes)" I'm guessing polyphasic sleepers can use this, but no idea if they provide support specifically for polyphasic sleepers.

Naps, exercise, and a healthy diet are a better alternative though.
