But the world pays no attention to Nagel either.

In the end Feferman advocates for recognizing mathematics as part of a broader open-ended domain instead of the reductive and mechanistic sense described by Nagel and others.

One of the arguments I remember Nagel had was over the name.

If, after all, Nagel is proven wrong—that is, if subjectivity is in fact reducible to an identifiable network of neural synapses—what is the point of investigating the human condition through a humanistic lens?

I have not read the Nagel book, and I am not saying you are wrong, I am saying that nobody is going to believe you if you don't substantiate your argument with real evidence.

The proof presented in Nagel and Newman's book is not that difficult to follow, and the insight that you get from following the proof itself is genuinely worth the effort of sitting down with the book for a weekend.

That's what consciousness is: to borrow Thomas Nagel's phrase (which Chalmers also uses frequently), "the thing that it feels like" to be something.

You might be interested in Thomas Nagel's "What is it like to be a bat?" which takes the opposite stance to you, i.e.

They should read Nagel's 'What is it like to be a bat?'".

In the words of philosopher Thomas Nagel: " If sub specie aeternitatis there is no reason to believe that anything matters, then that does not matter either ".

So this needs a footnote in the form of Nagel's What is it like to be a bat?
