medlars

They have medlars at the Cloisters in NYC--at least, a few years ago...

Figs, clementines, mandarines (currently I'm finding so many around, just on the ground, in more or less abandoned gardens), persimmons, medlars..

I eat very rarely fish or poultry/eggs, my food is very local (foraging figs June-October, persimmons then, oranges, medlars in spring), local markets (collecting what's thrown away/very ripe), and some rice for winter 100% agree with you, why is it still allowed to build personal swimming pools?

There was a thing called Medline (which had been a replacement to a thing called Medlars).

Medlars are common enough in Italy in the fall and frequently made into gelato (nespola/nespole).

The post on Arstechnica forum is related to Loquat trees, which is different from Medlars.
