In short, the MediaWiki software gave power to the initial users of the software, who were mainly men.

And while the MediaWiki software is open source, it forms a rather closed / restricted sub-area of open source software.

My intention is to have the voting and badge system of SO and the easy collaboration system of Wikipedia (which uses MediaWiki framework).

Nevertheless, Wikipedia / MediaWiki are still very powerful and I don't see any viable alternative to them as of now.

I'm particularly interested in how the MediaWiki software is the cause of harassment and gender inequity.

The only thing we let people use MySQL for now is third-party frameworks that pretty much require it (Magento, MediaWiki, WordPress, Drupal).

Drupal, MediaWiki, Laravel, Slim, it's a pretty long list, and it includes projects that target Serious Devlopers.

Oh: Twiki, MediaWiki and some other site-specific formatting languages.

My example uses MediaWiki but Docuwiki also works.

This question needs to be asked about mediawiki.

Instead of the MediaWiki framework I like TiddlyWiki but it'll take a long time for me to integrate voting and badges system into it.

(apart from evernote) I'm currently experimenting with Emacs org-mode, Microsoft OneNote and a personal MediaWiki install on localhost.

Also if I select one of MediaWiki v1.14.0 or MediaWiki v1.15.1, choose "Browse Addons" and then follow the hint at the top of the page and click "By app version" and then finally press "filter and sort", I get an empty list.
