The point is that it has been long assumed that Vermeer used at least a camera lucida to construct his paintings.

The color scheme, skeuomorphism and use of Lucida Grande suggests it was designed a couple years back.

It works quite well with the Lucida Sans Unicode, if only they'd spelt the font name correctly.

Going from graceful, readable Lucida to ok-only-in-Retina-but-even-then-hard-to-read-and-overused Helvetica to this new San Francisco is just plain frustrating.

You do realise that Vermeer predates the patenting of the camera lucida by a hundred years?

Also, no fall back fonts specified, I'm on Windows and it appears not to have Lucida Grande installed.

Am I the only one here who hates to see Lucida Grande be replaced with Neue Helvetica Aslightaspossible?

I was actually saddened when I saw people starting with their patches forcing Lucida back in OS X 10.10.

So, why did Apple switch from Lucida Grande to Helvetica?

It just feels namby-pamby typing your code in Lucida Console.

I don't hate it, but I'd love to just have Lucida back.

Just as Apple has never preferred Lucida Grande or Helvetica for marketing (only using either on the web in the pre-webfont era), this announcement doesn't get set in San Francisco.

I did like the kerning on the "i" in "While" better in Helvetica Neue than in Lucida Grande.

Lucida Grande was a great screen font, but the boldness of it worked much better on 1x screens.

Lucida is gone, but it can't get much worse than it is now.

Maybe readability trumps taste, but in that case, just go back to Lucida.
