jiffy

Called the guy up in a jiffy and told him about it. It seems that I was just a passive receiver.

The problem is that GoDaddy CEO can issue a statement like that, but the company will go back on it in a jiffy if need be. The company simply has no ethic backbone.

Oil changes are 30 bucks once a year at a Walmart/jiffy lube. The post that kicked this particular thread off even said as much but everyone seems more interested in arguing about the possible cost of the worst case than considering the actual costs of the probable cases: all the little shit.

To get PyPy to where it is now, expecting the Python developers to whip up a usable JIT compiler in a jiffy is not exactly realistic. Adding one would add huge complexity to the reference implementation of Python, the same goes for the GIL. Read here[1] for reasons why the GIL will never be removed and use the awesomely simple multiprocessing library to spread work over multiple cores, that's why it was made.

They apparently have no comprehension that a PGP-encrypted file is not like a web service where you can just go in and change the password in a jiffy -- as long as that file exists, the same password will work on it, forever. The rebuttal quoted indicates that WL said it was a "temporary" password, so it seems that via a misinterpretation at the Guardian, its editors expected the password to stop working on that file in a matter of hours.

I remember based on associations, not time: If you sit me down in front of the code I wrote, or pose the problem to me directly, I'll remember in a jiffy, but looking back on my time at a company/at school/etc it just seems like a blur---I can't remember anything at all that way!
